Our client had lost most of his left hand in an accident, but was a keen cyclist, wanted to ride again, and had already moved the controls over to right handed operation. However, he still needed the added security of controlling the bike with his left hand.
A commercially available wrist brace was used as a basis for an adjustable clamp made of quarter inch aluminium angle, which could be set to apply light pressure on the handlebar grip, but still allow removal where necessary (e.g. to signal).
The original aluminium strip in the brace was replaced with a 1/8 inch thick one to take a thread and pivot bush/bolt allowing the clamp to rotate in use.
